Have you ever had a dream but had no idea where to start? Today’s guest, Polly Payne, knows a thing or two about how that feels! Polly launched her first Dream Planner with little experience ever creating paper products, but a whole lot of hope and faith in the purpose God had placed in her heart – to create beautiful planners that help Christian women fulfill their own dreams.

Polly is the founder of Horacio Printing and host of the Dream Printing Podcast. She coaches thousands of women on how to create, print, and launch beautiful paper products.

Today, Polly shares with us her story of moving to New York City and launching her first Dream Planner, how she scaled her business, and when she knew it was time to leave her 9-5 job. We also talk about approaching planning and dreaming for a new year from a faith-based perspective, setting goals that actually stick, and why even stay at home moms can benefit from a tool like the Dream Planner.

Thanks for listening to another episode of Joy Filled – a podcast that invites moms to experience the fullness of joy in everyday motherhood as we walk with Christ together. If you got something out of this episode, please share it with a friend and, if you haven’t already, go ahead and leave us a review to help us on our mission to encourage and equip as many moms as possible.

In our weakness, He is strong. A simple truth so easily forgotten, which is why I am honored to be bringing Emily Jensen on today to discuss weakness and what to do when we feel weak. While no one ever wants to feel weak, the reality is we all face these feelings at some point, so it’s important to know what to do when we come face to face with our weakness and, more importantly, what God says about it.

Emily Jensen is the cohost of Risen Motherhood podcast, co-author of the book Risen Motherhood, and most recently, author of He Is Strong - Devotions For When You Feel Weak.

Emily shares hope, encouragement, and personal stories on weakness and I pray you leave feeling uplifted and reminded that your weakness doesn’t count you out, but gives you an opportunity to lean into the strength you have in Christ.

Making friends as a mom isn’t easy. You’re busy, you’re tired, and if you’re anything like me there’s a high chance you’re knee deep in the throes of the toddler years and you’ve just about forgotten how to talk to grownups altogether.

But the truth is, even though it’s hard, making an effort to build good friendships is always worth it because we were created to be in community with one another. If you’ve been praying for friends, keep praying, and also don’t be afraid to be the one to reach out!

In this episode, we talk about the struggle of loneliness as a mom and I also give you 10 easy conversation starters for your next mom group, coffee meetup, or playdate.

What if you took a different approach to your health this year? What if you chose grace instead of guilt? Today Robin Long, founder of Lindywell and author of Well To The Core, joins us for a conversation on how to do just that.

As a Pilates instructor, author, business owner, and mom of 4, Robin is no stranger to the rollercoasters of toxic diet culture, the pendulum swing of health trends, and how difficult it can be to prioritize taking care of yourself as moms.

In this episode, we talk about how to listen to your body and honor what it needs, the importance of finding moments throughout your day to take care of yourself, and how we can implement small changes today that make a lasting impact.

When it comes to our kids, discipleship often feels like this big, intimidating thing that we know we need to do but we’re not quite sure how to do. Right?

Here’s the good news, friend: discipleship is actually quite simple, and it’s not something we need to stress about or feel pressure about.

It’s less about the big, planned moments and more about you as a parent making the conscious decision to center your life around Christ. When you make Christ the center of your home, discipleship is inevitable. As the apostle Paul said, follow me as I follow Christ.

So today we’re going to discuss what discipleship is, why we should care about it, and we’ll talk about two different types of discipleship and how to be sure they are both happening in your children’s lives. So lean in and let’s get into another episode of The Joy Filled Podcast.

“These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.”–Deuteronomy 6:6-9 CSB

Biblical boundaries, burnout, and loving people well - yep, we’re going there today with Courtney Burg. Courtney is the author of her brand new book Loyal To A Fault and founder of Discover Your Worth, an online membership designed to support women with practical tools to break free from codependency while establishing a healthy boundary practice. She’s a mom of 4 in the thick of motherhood just like you and I, and she’s here to talk with us about how setting boundaries is how we love people well and reflect the way God loves us.
This conversation is full of so much truth and Courtney approaches this hard topic with love, grace and wisdom and I know you’re going to walk away better because of her, so I hope you enjoy this episode of The Joy Filled Podcast.

This time of year, there is often a lot of pressure and weight on us mamas to do and be everything for everyone. We’ve got presents to buy, decorations to be hung, parties to host, treats to bake, and the list goes on. If we’re not careful, we’ll get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of the most wonderful time of the year that we’ll forget to ever stop and wonder at the magnificence of the reason why we celebrate in the first place - that little baby that was laid in a manger all those years ago.

So today I’m sharing with you the one thing that has helped me the most when it comes to keeping the peace and joy in this time of year. Grab your favorite warm and cozy drink and let’s dive into this episode of The Joy Filled Podcast.

Overwhelm is something we all face, but it’s not something we need to try to avoid or outrun. You will experience overwhelm in life, that’s a guarantee, but overwhelm is a feeling to acknowledge, not a place to camp out and take on as an identity. So instead of trying to figure out how to avoid it, in this episode we’re going to talk about how to move through it, lean into it and give it the attention it deserves, and continue on forward because just like every other feeling we experience, overwhelm is simply a messenger alerting us that some things aren’t quite right.

We’re all trying our best to handle it all, whatever “it” is for you. Motherhood, family, work life. Balancing home and kids and social activities and all the things. It can feel sort of impossible to handle it all, right? Friend, I’ve got good news - you and I were never created to handle it all on our own. We were created to be in community with the Lord, walking with him, working with him, and inviting him into every portion of our lives as we cast our cares on Him.

One of the best ways to truly “cast our cares” is through prayer. So often I hear of women who are afraid to pray or simply don’t know how to pray, so today we are talking all things prayer in hopes that you leave with a clear understanding of what prayer is and how we can apply it to our lives. We’ll talk through things like the basics of prayer, the different kinds of prayer, when and how to pray, and writing out your prayers.

I hope you enjoy this episode of The Joy Filled Podcast!

Friendship is TOUGH! There, I said it. Today on the podcast, Elizabeth Laing Thompson is joining us to talk through all the questions we’ve all been asking about friendship - how to make new friends, how to nurture lifelong friendships, and what to do when friendships fall apart.
In Elizabeth’s brand new book When a Friendship Falls Apart, she comes alongside readers as they process their struggling friendships—the faltering, the fractured, and the failed. Blending personal story, biblical examples, and faith-filled wisdom, each page explores questions like the following:
How do we guard against the poison of bitterness so we can process the hurt and move forward?
When and how do we seek reconciliation? What does forgiveness look like?
How do we know when it’s time to leave a friendship behind?
How do we open up again and entrust our wounded hearts to new friendships?
If you find yourself in the midst of a friendship that’s falling apart, or you’re grappling with past hurts and regrets, I hope you enjoy this podcast episode and I encourage you to grab a copy of Elizabeth’s new book, When a Friendship Falls Apart.
